I am Margot Vasseur, a Loire Valley guide based in Amboise, France. I take people round these châteaux most weeks. Where a fact here comes from the château’s own leaflet or its published tariff, I say so; where it comes from an encyclopedia, a press release or a reviewer, I say that instead. Where the sources disagree — and on the date of the gallery they do — the page sets out both.
